Philippe Snel receives Ordre National du Mérite

Sinnolabs Founder and DaWo Law Firm’s managing director Philippe Snel recently received from the hands of Benoit Guidée, Consul General of France in Shanghai, on behalf of the President of theRepublic of France H.E Emmanuel Macron, the decoration of "Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite"(Knight in the National Order of Merit). In his presentation address M. Guidée stressed that the decoration acknowledged the steadfast leadership and strong determination which Philippe had shown as Chairman of the Board of the Shanghai French School over the past 6 years, in particular in regard to the new EuroCampus project which was recently completed in Yangpu District. The consul-general went on to point out that, also as a lawyer, Philippe had regularly provided his benevolent assistance to those members of the community who sometimes end up in dire straits.    

What is theNational Order of Merit? 

The National Order of Merit is a French honorary order instituted on December 3, 1963 by the French President Charles de Gaulle. This order acknowledges French or foreign individuals who have distinguished themselves, through their activities, their engagements and their dedication, to the benefit of the French people or the French Republic.    

Who decideson the nomination? 

This honorary title cannot be requested by oneself, but must be proposed to the relevant Minister by a member of the French central administrationor a representative thereof. The application is reviewed by a dedicated board, sent to the relevant Minister and eventually signed by the President. The decree of appointment is published in the Journal Officiel.
